November 20, 2018The Oval Room was recommended by a friend. Food was good quality. Maybe this was an "off night" The extra cost and effort to reserve a room/special menu was not a good value for the small space and louder groups adjacent. Service for a special occasion was mediocre and the person of honor was not served first even after asking the server to do this multiple times.

September 8, 2018Very nice! I went to lunch alone and had two beautiful, delicious dishes: octopus and salmon. Enjoyed both very much. Nice, professional service.

January 18, 2018One of the absolute coolest bars in DC. The ambiance alone makes the Oval Room, nicknamed the Oval Office of Bars, with an intimate feel and interesting images and portraits on the wall it a must-visit for those in search of a classy bar filled with character. Beyond looks and feel, bartenders concoct drinks to perfection. I highly recommend an Old Fashioned.

September 25, 2017A standout dinner. I chose the tasting menu with wine pairing. My husband a beef dish. We both agreed that this was the best meal we'd had in a long time. Rt really sets the standards for fine dining and you don't see too many places these days that put so many details in to service and presentation of the meal. The seating is intimate and romantic. The wine list superb. The food exquisite and perfectly portioned.

July 10, 2017Very chill restaurant with great service. I wined and dined and had a relaxing experience. The lobster was a delicious appetizer, the kumquat glazed duck was fantastic, and the dessert (can't remember the exact name. It included cheesecake and figs) was amazing. The staff was very warm and attentive from start to finish!

February 26, 2017I was underwhelmed. We were a party of 5 for a weekday lunch, the restaurant wasn't crowded and our food didn't come out together. Which I wouldn't mind but I wasn't too thrilled with the dish that I ordered (scallop salad). Same is true for the fig dessert. The figs weren't ripe and that made the dessert not come together cohesively. The portions are pretty small and if i were very hungry, I would have left unsatiated (just so happened I couldn't eat too much anyway so I appreciated the small portions that particular day). The plating however, is very beautiful...the amount of effort put into making each plate look like a piece of art is visible. For me: A+ on plating. B+ on taste.

October 7, 2016Fantastic place for a date night and people watching. Exquisite hot or refreshing cold drinks that you haven’t tried somewhere else. The staff is attentive, the service is great, and the food is terrific. Dwight atended us and made sure our experience was not to be forgotten. This has a perfect location and is a hidden gem of DC. Not to be missed.
