This local, Outer Banks restaurant is now in it's 37th anniversary season. That's probably why it's called a 'Nags Head Tradition' by locals. Currently open for breakfast daily. Weekends there's a robust fruit and breakfast bar plus some whopping good breakfast platters. Dinner is open thru Thanksgiving weekend. Specialties are real southern cooking - like fried chicken. Also a specialty - local, Outer Banks seafood - broiled, fried, and always good. Steaks and prime rib round out the dinner menu. The "R" Bar is great for a late night meal or a special drink. And if all this isn't enough, there's Roxie's Retail - great, flirty finds for your home or wardrobe. It's a family run organization that is glad to welcome locals and vacationers alike.

October 18, 2018Great french toast platter. Food is amazing. Service is top notch. Shannon has taken care of us both times and is amazing. Breakfast buffet is good alot of choices hot fresh.

October 1, 2018Yummy creamed chipped beef! Friendly service and cozy inside. Update: went back that evening for dinner lol. Best meal I had that week! I'm picky, and for some reason went outside my comfort zone and got fish tacos. Oh my goodness! Fresh cobia. It was beyond excellent. My taste buds were in love! The beans and rice were delicious. The hush puppies. .. yes people.... they are outstanding! I took a picture after starting my meal haha. I WILL BE BACK! YOU NEED TO GO! Service was very friendly and quick.

September 6, 2018We got there less than an hour before closing. They were very accommodating and seated our party of 12 right away. The service was great and the food was good. I would gladly recommend The Dunes.

September 3, 2018The three of us had the country fried steak lunch special that was advertised and suggested by our server. The steak was fantastic, it was cooked properly with great flavor and seasoning. The hash browns are top notch. The tea is Lipton and brewed nicely. The staff was attentive and the price decent. We all left full and satisfied. It has a nice souvenir shop with decent prices.

August 19, 2018have only been here once while on vacation, but still, i gotta say man, i ordered their "small" (maybe it's called personal pan?) pizza with pepperoni&extra cheese, & it was absolutely fantastic. completely worth it bro. i love pizza, & so if a place doesn't have that good of pizza, i do not like it. however, i do recommend this place. price was lower than i thought it would be as well 💯👌

July 27, 2018Waitress was was great, hushpuppies were not good. I got the choice of 3 fried seafood. Shrimp,flounder and crab cake. Everything was good except the crab cake(it was so sweet it was over powering with season) a manager walked by to ask if everything was okay, I told her yes except the crab cake and her response was "have you ever had a crab cake before" she was rude and didn't offer to fix it or swap it out with another item. Our first time there and may be the last.
