October 16, 2018Only authentic Japanese food in RI and it's damn good. I've been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed.

September 20, 2018Excellent, simple sushi. This place feels like it was transplanted directly out of Japan.

September 14, 2018I enjoy this place each time I go. I am usually there for lunch and all of the lunch specials I have tried were great. I enjoyed the bentos, sushi and katsudon.

August 18, 2018We visit Ran Zan at least twice a month. Other users are correct in the sometimes service is slow, but there is one sushi chef preparing all sushi which takes time. It's well worth the wait. The bento boxes are fun if you want a little bit of everything, and the sushi is fresh and always consistent. The owners clearly care about what they are serving their customers and are very appreciative. They don't have fancy elaborate rolls, just authentic simpler options. Highly recommend.

July 17, 2018Simple high quality sushi. The most authentic sushi spot in Providence. If you want quality sushi like what actual Japanese people enjoy, this is the place. No over the top dragon monkey fried chicken rolls. Just fresh fish served by a friendly staff.

June 23, 2018Superb little shop with great food and even greater staff. Their sake selection is fantastic and their menu varied. I typically swing by once every two months when I pass through and I've never been disappointed. Their strawberry and melon sodas are a guilty pleasure and their sushi superb. The snow crab & asparagus rolls are to die for. There are plenty of noodle options, as well as meats prepared in a variety of ways.Prices are affordable and every staff member rocks. It's been the same faces for years. If you're trying to park, you're in luck on the weekends - there are parking spots in the gas station lot, along the wall, that are available during the weekends. During the day, they may get towed if the mechanics are backlogged.

May 19, 2018I have lived in Providence for nearly four years now. I have also traveled to Japan and eaten the sushi there. Before living in Providence, I lived in New York, where there is also excellent sushi. Put simply, Ran Zan is the best sushi spot in Providence, and I would not recommend you try any other place. Ran Zan is authentically Japanese - run by a Japanese husband-wife team, and their food is of the higest quality available in the area.
