I asked for a vegetarian sampler of lots of veggie dishes. She pointed to a tiny picture of a big variety none of which I could tell what they were and I said fine. She served it after a long wait and it was almost all meat. I told her and she said I have to pay for that meal because they made it - the meal I could not eat. Horrible service. Paid and left.

First time here and it was sooo good! Went around 1:40pm on a Tuesday, and there was no wait at all. The lamb and spicy beef are a definite must! The sambusa was also really good! We got the mixed platter too and I have no complaints. The restaurant is small and intimate with outdoor seating as well. I heard the coffee was really good but I opted for the red wine. I will definitely be returning to experience the coffee ceremony.

Merkato ethiopian restaurant is the best place to eat Ethiopian food in Las vegas. I have been to other Ethiopian restaurants in Vegas or other cities, but the food at Merkato is the best. Very friendly staff. I have been there twice and definitely will go back when I visit vegas.

Our server was really helpful and patient in helping my fiance choose a dish for his first time trying Ethiopian food, and he loved it. I had the veggie combo and it was delicious. We'll definitely be back.

The restaurant isn’t called Merkato any more. It’s called Arif. Google Maps and the front door say they open at 11am, but they were closed at noon when I showed up.I walked in the front door, which was open, and I said hello to the empty, dark room . . . a Latina woman came out from the kitchen and said they were closed. I left and went to another Ethiopian restaurant, which was open at that time.

This now Arif Ethiopian Restaurant. The food is good and the service friendly. They also have unique art on the walls.

We are here on vacation from Portland,Oregon where we eat Ethiopian food all the time. Even after a week in Vegas with 400 dollar gourmet dinners and amazing shows this was the best evening we have had!The food is amazing! The owner even more so.The Gored Gored was the best I have ever had!The coffee ceremony was so much fun. This is not something we have experienced before. From roasting the beans to serving in the traditional Ethiopian pot and cups the ladies here made us feel like we were close friends invited into their home. They explained all of the steps and meanings while chit chatting like we were old friends. The only thing I regret about having dinner here is the fact we don't live close enough to go on a more regular basis! If your looking for great Ethiopian food and even greater atmosphere and service this is the way to go!
