June 18, 2018New favorite Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood run by Japanese couple. Price is moderate for the quality of food you get. My must have items here are the toro sashimi and seafood salad. Sometimes you need to refill your own tea but I don't mind. It's a family run restaurant that serves good food.

March 27, 2018I love this restaurant. Very fresh sashimi and love all the cooked food too. Downside is that there’s no waiter or waitress. All the water and tea are self-served. I guess this is how he is able to keep the price so low. Please come here to enjoy a nice traditional Japanese food. No fusion style, not too much sauce, just simple, fresh Japanese food and sashimi.P.S. agedashi tofu is something I almost always order at every single Jpanese restaurant, and Makoto is by far my #1 agedashi tofu!

September 17, 2017My grandson loved the teriyaki chicken roll which had generous chunks of yummy teriyaki chicken inside, without any cucumber or avacado, just the way he liked it. My granddaughter loved the dynamic rolls, California rolls. We had a lunch box with teriyaki beef which was a good deal. The owner/chef was busy running around but service was pretty good.

March 26, 2017We tried Makoto for the first time last week and were happily surprised that everything was great when factoring in cost vs what you receive. The food quality was superior to other similar priced locations. The restaurant is very quiet, so if you are looking for a loud place this is not where you should go. Very cozy. As soon as this self quarantine is over, I'll be going back!

February 3, 2017Very good, authentic Japanese food. Generous portions of fish in the rolls and nigiri. The yam tempura roll was still warm and crunchy. One man runs the show (with some help in the kitchen behind). He takes your order and goes behind the sushi bar to prep everything. The downside is it can be slow, and you get your own water/tea from dispensers. Not a big deal.

June 10, 2016Small, authentic Japanese restaurant with fresh sushi and delicious dishes. My favourite is the pork shogayaki, or ginger pork. A must-try! The owners are very nice; the husband usually takes the order and prepares the sushi. The wife is usually in the kitchen, cooking up the yummy dishes.
