July 3, 2017I love puerto rican food. Growing up I've eaten a lot of home cooked PR cuisine at friends houses. When I moved to Houston I immediately searched for PR restaurants..i think there was 1 or 2 in town but far from me.Then Caldero opened up 5 minutes drive from me..the food was excellent and the hospitality top notch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting some good Puerto Rican food.

January 12, 2017Take it from a puertorrican, this is the best puertorrican food you can get overall in Houston. While not all the items in the menu are all the time, they only accept cash, and it can take a while to get the order out, it's all worth it! Recommendations: call first and order by phone so when you get there you don't have to wait too much.

July 10, 2016Love the food from El Caldero Boricua; Luis and Wilfredo are the owners/sous chef/chefs/waiters/busboys of the restaurant -they do everything!!! Luis and Wilfredo are great people, they offer great service, and are super friendly. The food is delicious, in fact, it's the best in town. They serve large portions that, most of the time, I end up bringing leftovers home. Nevertheless, the reasons I give a 3 star rating are:1. The place needs TLC, it looks dirty and run down; it truly is a hole in the wall, but with the most amazing Puerto Rican cuisine. 2. Be aware that is cash only.3. I recommend that you call before going, because their schedule varies.

July 4, 2016My family is originally from PR and this as close to "home" cooking as a boricua can find in the Houston area.
