Crab Shack Seafood Restaurant on the James

Eating at this restaurant was delicious. We sat outside and had a wonderful view while eating a dozen crabs. My kids had kid's meals that were pretty large. We could have split just 1 between them. I highly recommend this place!

The service was great! The portion sizes were good, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was also very relaxed and enjoyable.

This was a great little spot to eat. The atmosphere is very laid back, but well cared for. The views of the James River are fantastic, and when you're done with your meal you can either go hang out on the beach, or walk up the fishing pier that is attached to the restaurant. I loved eating here. I even bought t-shirts.

Came here for lunch during restaurant week. She crab soup was excellent and the fried chicken wrap was very fresh, tasty and had a nice little kick to it. Great casual atmosphere with a totally awesome view of the river!Heather was great. Helpful and friendly!A must-go place for some comfortable eats!

Always a great experience. Service was a little slow this night but all in all the food was good. We were a large party of 13 people on a Sunday evening after the beach. We love coming here afterwards. Fresh seafood and hot plates!

First time going. Restaurant was clean staff very friendly and attentive to customers. Though we didn't dine outside because of weather the view is nice. Food was very good and reasonably priced. I would go back

Had the 10.00 lunch special from restaurant week. She crab soup. Good on a rainy day. Steamed shrimp. Very good

Nice restaurant, we sat outside: we got there approximately 12:20 today and service was pretty slow, but the volume wasn't high. The she crab soup is okay, could use more crab meat. The oysters on the half shell are the worst oysters I've had this far... Very bland... No sweetness to them at all or distinguishing flavors.On the plus side... Their shrimp prawns are great! Highly recommend the shrimp here and that, along with water, will probably be the only things I ever order here again.Friend also said her fish sandwich tasted pretty dry and kinda stale/flavorless.

Great food & service...not to mention the view!

Wonderful atmosphere and service, I always go with the blackened tuna and as always it did not disappoint, seasoned and thick, cooked Medium well, that's how I always get it and this one here was spot on, kudos to the chef, Nice little bar with views of the James River Bridge, as with tradition we always walk the pier after our meal, rain or shine, so dress accordingly if you so desire to take the walk, enjoy.
